Babylon
Overview
Hollywood, 1927: the silents are dying and nobody's handling it well. Chazelle throws a three-hour bacchanal at the screen — Robbie's feral starlet, Pitt's fading idol, Calva's wide-eyed dreamer — and it's excessive in exactly the way you'd expect. Some sequences soar, some collapse, but it's never dull. If maximalist cinema is your thing, this is your movie. If not, you'll know within twenty minutes.
