The United States vs Billie Holiday
Overview
Andra Day doesn't just play Billie Holiday — she channels her. The film frames the jazz legend's persecution by the FBI over 'Strange Fruit' as the government war it was, and Day's performance earned every bit of its acclaim. It's harrowing watching genius get punished for telling the truth. The music alone is worth it. A vital, painful piece of American history.
