Franklin
Overview
Franklin is a 2024 historical drama television miniseries created by Kirk Ellis for Apple TV+, based on the 2005 book A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America by Stacy Schiff. The series stars Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin, the American founding father who traveled to France in 1776 to secure an alliance with the French during the American Revolutionary War. The series follows Franklin as he uses his charm, his wit, and his intelligence to persuade the French court to support the American cause. The series was a critical success, praised for Michael Douglas's performance and for its portrayal of 18th-century French politics. It is a limited series, so a second season is not expected.
