Hunter Killer
Overview
The platonic ideal of a dad movie. I mean that lovingly. Gerard Butler's submarine captain must rescue the Russian president to stop World War III, and the film plays it completely straight — sonar pings, muttered orders, Gary Oldman bellowing. There's not a surprising minute in it, and that's the charm. It's sturdy, tense, old-school military pulp. Watch it on a Sunday afternoon with someone's father. He'll love it. You might too.
