The Painter
Overview
His cover was canvas and brushes. His past disagrees. A former CIA operative hides behind an easel until old enemies threaten his daughter, dragging him back into the game. Jon Voight brings grizzled weight to a familiar setup, and the art-world setting gives the tradecraft some fresh texture. Nobody will call it a classic. But as a Friday-night thriller, it does the job without embarrassment.
