Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Overview
The villain is Death himself. In a cartoon about a cat. And it works. Down to his last life, Puss faces a whistling wolf who isn't a villain so much as an inevitability — the most chilling antagonist in any animated film, full stop. The painterly action sequences put most live-action blockbusters to shame. It's about mortality, fear, and found family, somehow all in 100 minutes. Banderas is perfect. Kids get a swashbuckling adventure; adults get an existential gut-punch.
