The Sympathizer
Overview
A communist spy embedded in the South Vietnamese army flees to LA and keeps reporting back — while questioning everything he believes. Hoa Xuande holds the center as the Captain, funny and haunted in equal measure. Park Chan-wook directs with style to burn, and Robert Downey Jr. plays four different sleazy Americans. It's funny, furious, and unlike any Vietnam story you've seen. The finale hits like a truck.
