The Regime
Overview
Kate Winslet goes full dictator in this sharp HBO satire about a paranoid chancellor losing her grip on a fictional European state. It's absurd, uncomfortable, and weirdly plausible. Winslet is clearly having a blast playing terrible. Not every joke lands, but when it does, it stings. Made for fans of Veep's darker cousin. Matthias Schoenaerts as her enforcer is hilariously menacing. Weird, bold television.
