Breaking Bad Season 1
Overview
Breaking Bad is a 2008 crime drama television series created by Vince Gilligan for AMC, widely regarded as one of the greatest TV shows ever made. The first season follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a mild-mannered, overqualified high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Desperate to secure his family's financial future before he dies, Walt uses his chemistry knowledge to start cooking crystal meth. He partners with a former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), a small-time, struggling addict and dealer. The first season introduces the characters and their world. Walt is a sympathetic, desperate man, but he is also proud and resentful. He refuses a job offer from his former business partners, who became billionaires without him. He decides to cook meth instead. The first season ends with Walt and Jesse working for a local drug lord, Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz). Breaking Bad is a meditation on pride, masculinity, and the corrupting influence of power.
