Overview

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a 2013 police sitcom television series created by Michael Schur and Dan Goor for Fox, later revived by NBC. The series is set at the 99th Precinct of the New York Police Department in Brooklyn. The series follows a group of detectives and their captain. The series stars Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta, a talented, immature, and goofy detective; Andre Braugher as Captain Raymond Holt, the stern, deadpan, and brilliant new captain; Terry Crews as Sergeant Terry Jeffords, a gentle giant who is terrified of being injured; Stephanie Beatriz as Detective Rosa Diaz, a tough, intimidating, and mysterious detective; Melissa Fumero as Detective Amy Santiago, a competitive, ambitious, and nerdy detective; Joe Lo Truglio as Detective Charles Boyle, a loyal, quirky, and food-obsessed detective; and Chelsea Peretti as Gina Linetti, the precinct's narcissistic, eccentric civilian administrator. The series is a fast-paced, witty, and inclusive sitcom. It is known for its "cold opens" (the scenes before the theme song), its "Halloween heist" episodes, and its positive portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters. Brooklyn Nine-Nine won two Golden Globe Awards, including Best Television Series Musical or Comedy. The series was praised for its humor, its characters, and its handling of social issues. The series ended with its eighth season in 2021.
