District 9
Overview
Twenty years after aliens arrived over Johannesburg, they're stuck in a slum called District 9 — and a bumbling bureaucrat accidentally becomes the most wanted man on Earth. Blomkamp's documentary-meets-action style makes everything feel horribly, plausibly real. It's really about apartheid and xenophobia wearing a sci-fi costume, and the creature design still looks incredible fifteen years later.
