The Expanse Season 1
Overview
The Expanse is a 2015 science fiction television series developed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby for Syfy, later Amazon Prime Video, based on the book series by James S.A. Corey. The first season is set in a future where humanity has colonized the solar system. There is tension between Earth, Mars, and the "Belters" (people who live in the asteroid belt). The story follows three main characters: Detective Miller (Thomas Jane), a Belter detective looking for a missing woman; James Holden (Steven Strait), the executive officer of a ice hauler who discovers a conspiracy; and Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), a UN politician trying to prevent a war. The first season is a complex, slow-burn, and rewarding sci-fi thriller. It was a critical success, gaining a passionate cult following. The show is a must-see for fans of hard science fiction and for anyone who loves a good, complex, political space opera.
