Licorice Pizza
Overview
San Fernando Valley, 1973: a 25-year-old photographer's assistant and a 15-year-old child actor tumble from one scheme to the next. Paul Thomas Anderson bottles pure 70s sunlight: gas shortages, waterbeds, and a first-love feeling that's warm and slightly off-balance. Alana Haim is a revelation. It's meandering by design — plot purists may fidget. But if you love hanging out in a movie, this one's heaven.
