Manchester by the Sea
Overview
This one will quietly wreck you. A handyman returns to his Massachusetts hometown to care for his teenage nephew after his brother's death, and old grief he's been outrunning catches up fast. Casey Affleck gives one of the most devastating performances I've ever seen — so restrained it hurts. There's no big redemption speech here, just people doing their best with broken hearts. Not a fun watch. An important one.
