Overview

Poker Face is a 2023 mystery crime drama television series created by Rian Johnson for Peacock. The series stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a casino worker who has an extraordinary ability to detect lies. The series is a howcatchem, or inverted detective story, where the audience sees the crime committed, and then follows Charlie as she solves it. Charlie is a down-on-her-luck drifter who is on the run from a casino owner. She travels across the country in her Plymouth Barracuda, and she encounters a new mystery in each episode. The series is a throwback to classic detective shows like Columbo and The Rockford Files. It features a rotating cast of guest stars, including Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chloë Sevigny, and Ron Perlman. Poker Face was a critical and commercial success, winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress for Natasha Lyonne. The series was praised for its writing, its performances, and its unique, reverse-mystery format. A second season is in production.
