Road House
Overview
Road House is a 2024 action film directed by Doug Liman, a remake of the 1989 film of the same name. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rowdy roadhouse in the Florida Keys. The roadhouse, called "The Road House," is a dangerous, lawless place. Dalton is hired to clean it up, but he soon finds himself in conflict with a local crime boss, Ben Brandt (Billy Magnussen), and his enforcer, Knox (Conor McGregor). The film is a throwback to classic 1980s action movies, with brutal fight scenes, cheesy dialogue, and a charismatic lead performance by Gyllenhaal. Conor McGregor, in his acting debut, is a memorable villain. The film was a commercial success, becoming one of Amazon Prime Video's most-watched films. A sequel is in development.
