Shutter Island
Overview
Don't let anyone spoil this one for you — seriously, go in cold. DiCaprio plays a 1950s U.S. Marshal investigating a disappearance at a fortress-like asylum for the criminally insane, and from the first ferry ride something feels deeply wrong. Scorsese builds dread the old-fashioned way: fog, staircases, unanswered questions. The ending recontextualizes everything you'll have seen. Whether you love it or argue about it afterward, you won't forget it.
