The White Lotus Season 1
Overview
The White Lotus is a 2021 satirical comedy-drama anthology television series created by Mike White for HBO. The first season is set at the White Lotus resort in Maui, Hawaii. The guests include: Shane Patton (Jake Lacy), a wealthy, spoiled newlywed; Rachel (Alexandra Daddario), his new wife; Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge), a lonely, wealthy, and emotionally unstable woman; Mark (Steve Zahn) and Nicole Mossbacher (Connie Britton), a wealthy couple from San Francisco; and their children. The first season explores themes of class, race, and privilege. The guests are oblivious to their own wealth and power, and they treat the staff as invisible. The first season was a massive critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series. The show is a must-see for fans of satire and for anyone who loves a good, darkly funny, and uncomfortable look at the lives of the wealthy and privileged. A second season was released in 2022, and a third season is in production.
