Overview

House of the Dragon Season 2 continues the epic story of the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The season picks up immediately after the shocking death of Lucerys Velaryon at the hands of Aemond Targaryen, which has plunged the realm into all-out war. Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) is consumed by grief and rage, determined to avenge her son's death. She begins assembling her allies, including the houses of the North and the Riverlands, while Daemon (Matt Smith) tries to secure the strategic stronghold of Harrenhal. On the other side, Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) is crowned king in King's Landing, with his grandfather Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) as Hand of the King and his brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) as his enforcer. The season features several epic dragon battles, including the Battle of Rook's Rest (where Rhaenys and her dragon Meleys are killed) and the Battle of the Gullet (a massive naval battle). The season also introduces new characters, including the cunning and ambitious lord Corlys Velaryon's legitimized sons, and the dragon-riding dragonseeds. The season ends with Rhaenyra capturing King's Landing and taking the Iron Throne, while Aegon flees to Dragonstone. House of the Dragon Season 2 is a tense, dramatic, and visually stunning season of political intrigue and dragon warfare.
