Overview
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is a 2022 fantasy television series created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay for Amazon Prime Video, based on the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The series is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, during the Second Age of Middle-earth. The first season introduced the characters and the world. The second season continues the story. Sauron, the dark lord, is now revealed, and he is trying to corrupt the elves. The second season follows the forging of the Rings of Power. The season was a critical and commercial success, praised for its visuals, its music, and its ambition. The series has been renewed for a third season.
