Game of Thrones Season 8 is the eighth and final season of HBO's epic fantasy series, concluding the story of the battle for the Iron Throne. The six-episode season begins with the Battle of Winterfell, where the living fight the army of the dead. The Night King is killed by Arya Stark, saving humanity. The season then focuses on the final conflict between Daenerys Targaryen and Cersei Lannister. Daenerys wins, but she becomes a tyrant, burning King's Landing to the ground and killing thousands of innocent people. Jon Snow kills Daenerys to save the realm from her tyranny. The series finale sees Bran Stark elected king, Jon sent back to the Night's Watch, Arya sailing west of Westeros, and Sansa ruling the independent North.
